It’s finally time to howl at the moon. The crew of El Lobo went from growl to beast mode after weighing in the only qualifying marlin on the final day of the 2011 Bisbee’s Black & Blue Marlin Jackpot Tournament. The 313-pound blue marlin, taken on a bonito lure, was boated after a 19-minute fight in the cobalt-blue waters due south of Cabo San Lucas.    Read More

A Family Affair

The first time was a charm for Vicente Rangel of central Mexico. That’s because on his first time fishing the Bisbee’s Black & Blue Marlin Jackpot Tournament, he landed the biggest and only qualifying marlin of the day, a 329-pound blue. Competing with family members aboard Pegasus, a beautiful yacht-fish, Rangel only needed 25 minutes to land his catch after it ate a live bonito for bait. The fish jumped several times during the battle and it was the second marlin ever caught by the angler.    Read More

Chris Erickson and his team aboard Bad Medicine finally found the cure for a constant bellyache. A lucky lure and doing the marlin dance in the cockpit of his 35 Cabo convertible probably helped, too. But when it was all over, their 409-pound blue marlin hanging at the scales represented the largest fish for Day One of the 2011 Bisbee’s Black & Blue Marlin Jackpot Tournament.
